The news outlet Iran Nuances reported on attacks against the Natanz, Tabriz, and Shiraz nuclear facilities, sharing images of a burning building that appeared to be a uranium enrichment plant.
Other media outlets reported bombings in the city of Tabriz, which houses the Fakouri air base. Iranian authorities have not confirmed these latest attacks, which follow Israel’s overnight strikes on more than 100 targets on Iranian soil.
Those bombings killed the chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, Gen. Mohammad Hossein Baqeri; the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Gen. Hossein Salami; Gen. Gholam Ali Rashid, who oversaw the strategic Khatam al-Anbiya Air Base; and six nuclear scientists.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Abdorrahim Mousavi as the new chief of staff of the armed forces and Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour as the new commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guard.
“With this crime, the Zionist regime has prepared a bitter and painful fate for itself, and it will undoubtedly receive it,” Khamenei said.
Following the directives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli military confirmed it had bombed dozens of targets related to Iran’s nuclear program and other military sites. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel acted “unilaterally.”
